CentOS is a community-supported, freely-available operating system based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. It exists to provide a free enterprise class computing platform and strives to maintain 100% binary compatibility with its upstream distribution.
We use CentOS because of it's fast response to reported vulnerabilities and it's long life (at least four years before you have to do a version upgrade). We would like to thank the Centos team for the remarkable jobs that they have done and we willl definitely continue promoting Centos to our clients for servers and specific desktop needs.
